In these Workshops and private online community I hope to encourage and inspire you to begin a lifetime of making art, through carving and crafting. I hope to open up a vast new world to you, a long pathway lays ahead strewn with possibilities and anendless palette of materials, colours and textures, as well as a huge variety of tools that will need some practice to master. Once they become familiar instruments in hands that have been trained to use them, along with a mind set of Patience and Practice that will be nurtured here, you will steadily grow in confidence and ability setting you free to literally create anything that you can imagine.
Taking a thought from your imagination, turning it in to a solid tangible object and passing that to another soul is a powerful type of Magic that is as old as humanity.
I will be here with you as you find your way along the path acting as a guide and mentor to support you over the hard parts and running alongside you through the easy parts, gently encouraging and helping you along with the other community members in a safe, supportive, sharing space where we can all grow and develop at our own pace and comfort.
In a world full of Artificial intelligence and generated art, 3D printers, CNC milling machines and all the other technology that threatens the modern artist, Hand carved still means something more, that magic is vital in todays world and the world needs magic in it right now more than ever.
My vision here is to see a new wave of carvers start a movement to revive old skills, wake up that ancient magic and grow in to a strong community of bright vibrant artists keeping the old magic and stories alive for more generations yet to come.
My mission is to provide personal and well tailored training that combines effective practices and techniques, personalised feedback, as well as a community-driven approach to help you develop skills, confidence, imagination, inspiration and intuitive growth. I will strive to make carving accessible, helping hand-eye coordination, foresight and planning become more instinctive. Making this space engaging, supportive and transformative for everyone, from beginners to advanced practitioners.
By helping you become familiar and confident with the tools, materials and knowledge to improve your practice, development and overall execution and finish of your projects, I aim to cultivate a global community of well skilled, bright and vibrant artists who are ready to take on life’s challenges with clarity and confidence and above all create some Beautiful, Meaningful, and ultimately valuable one of a kind works of Art.
Kes is a creative force behind the scenes. As Skot’s partner and a fellow artist Kes combines her tech knowledge and creative problem solving skills together bringing Skot’s dream of running online courses to a reality.
Ensuring all the tech gremlins are kept at bay and everything runs smoothly, enabling Skot the freedom to teach and give members the best experience during their time in the community, where she can also be found.
When Kes isn't in front of a laptop she's also creating art, horse riding or hiding under blankets on the sofa with a cup of tea!
Skot has always been fascinated with art and since childhood has been carving shapes in anything he could make a mark on, starting with stolen pieces of teachers chalk carved with a drawing pin he slowly learned how to manipulate solid objects and make shapes and forms that over the years became more and more advanced. Despite having failed art at school he taught himself and worked hard to the point he quit his Job and left behind all formal qualifications to venture out and make a living from carved art.
Specialising in Skull carving Skot made a name for himself in the art world and his work is sold and collected by thousands of people all over the globe. Often he has carved skulls from materials that no one else had thought could be carved never mind carved in to an anatomical study of a human skull, working with almost any material he has continued to experiment and develop his art while making a living from it.
